Handmade by us in the Netherlands

All the stable lamps in our range are designed by us and handmade in our own workshop in the Netherlands. We have been making our stable lamps for over 25 years and, as a result, have built up a large customer base of which we, as a family business, are very proud.

Our lamps are made exclusively from high-quality materials such as copper, zinc, Corten steel and cast iron, and will therefore last a lifetime. We handcraft every component ourselves using traditional methods, ensuring that each lamp is unique and tells its own story.

As we make the lamps ourselves, any combination and size is possible, so we can craft farmhouse lamps to any desired size for a project or home. All lamps are suitable for use as outdoor lamps or garden lighting and can be fitted with a cage – a metal cage or grid that we place around the glass to create a robust and rustic look.

Materials and finishes for stable lamps

The materials and finishes used in stable lamps play a crucial role in their durability and appearance. One of the most common materials used for stable lamps is Corten steel, a specially designed steel that develops a rusty patina on its outer layer; this gives our Corten steel stable lamps a very robust and rustic appearance. Corten steel is extremely durable and will last a lifetime with minimal maintenance.

As well as Corten steel, we also make stable lamps from zinc. Zinc has the natural property of darkening when exposed to the elements; our zinc lamps develop a beautiful dark grey patina the longer they hang outdoors.

Copper is another popular material for our stable lamps, particularly because of its unique ageing process. Over time, copper develops a natural patina that can take on a beautiful dark, green or blue hue. This characteristic gives copper an authentic, vintage look that fits perfectly with country-style interiors. Furthermore, copper is a highly durable material that is resistant to rust and corrosion.

Cast iron is also a commonly used material for stable lamps. It is exceptionally robust and can withstand the harshest weather conditions. Finally, we also manufacture rustic stable lamps in black; these lamps are made from steel and then powder-coated. A powder coating is particularly durable and ensures that the lamp is even better protected against the elements.

Energy efficiency and lighting technology

Nowadays, energy efficiency is an important consideration when choosing outdoor lighting. All our stable lamps are fitted with an old-style ceramic E27 socket, suitable for all types of LED bulbs. The advantage of an LED light source is that it consumes significantly less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs.

In addition, it is also possible to use LED bulbs with special features in our lights. Our lights are suitable for use with LED light sources fitted with a motion sensor or a day/night switch.

An LED light fitting with a motion sensor has a motion sensor built into the LED bulb; by fitting this light fitting into our stable lamp, you ensure that your rustic outdoor lamp is equipped with a motion sensor, so that the lamp switches on when someone is nearby.

An LED light fitting with a day and night sensor ensures that the light comes on when it gets dark, so you never have to switch it on or off yourself. 

In addition, there are now light sources such as the Philips Hue, which allow you to adjust the colour of the light, the brightness and various other settings yourself using an app. These smart light sources can also be used in the stable lights from our range.

Installation and maintenance of stable lights

You can easily install the stable lights from our range yourself. First, choose where you want to hang the light, then make sure there is a power cable coming out of the wall to which you can connect the light using a terminal block. It is best to fix the light in place using screws and wall plugs; our stable lights are already fitted with mounting holes for installation.

Once you have connected and fitted the lamp, you can easily unscrew the glass cover by hand and screw in an LED bulb with the desired features; then screw the glass cover back onto the lamp and, if fitted, place the cage over the glass cover.

Our lamps are extremely durable and made exclusively from high-quality materials; it is therefore not necessary to carry out any maintenance on them as they are built to last a lifetime, Furthermore, we stock the glass separately; if the glass breaks in a storm or other parts become damaged, we can supply these separately so that you can repair the lamp.
